What is the BVS TBS 1001?
The Total Banking Solution 1001 is a two-pocket, mixed-denomination money counter and banknote sorter supplied by BVS in Egypt. It combines value counting, denomination sorting, counterfeit screening and reporting, with 10 currencies activated and a separate reject pocket rated for 80 notes.

For a school or university cashier, the challenge is connecting the cash counted with receipts, handover records and bank deposits. During fee-collection periods, a useful machine must support that process, including a clear way to review rejected notes.
Separate tuition, transport, examination and other collections into identifiable batches before counting. Give each batch a reference, then retain its denomination report with the relevant receipt summary. This makes a later discrepancy easier to trace to a collection session instead of an undifferentiated daily total. Keep each reviewer’s name with the record.
Counting, sorting and handling older banknotes
BVS specifies mixed-value counting, denomination sorting, count-only operation and separation of supported banknote issues. Face and orientation functions help arrange notes consistently, while batch settings prepare counted packs.
The supplied configuration has three counting speeds and three detection-sensitivity levels, a hopper rated for 500 notes, an 80-note reject pocket, touchscreen controls and standby mode. BVS lists its weight at approximately 10kg.
BVS describes an Egypt-focused recognition adjustment intended to reduce unnecessary rejection of older, still-circulating notes. Acceptance depends on condition and settings; heavily damaged notes still require manual attention. A rejected note is not automatically counterfeit: review the rejection reason and inspect it separately.
Counterfeit detection, sensors and the ECP claim
BVS describes 11 sensing channels, including two CIS image sensors, infrared, ultraviolet, magnetic and thickness checks. Banknote sorter checks cover note images, dimensions, security features and feeding problems such as overlapping or incomplete notes.
BVS quotes 99% counterfeit detection and promotes 100% counting accuracy; some supplied marketing material also uses a 100% detection claim. These are supplier claims, not independently verified results or guarantees for every banknote.
BVS also cites “ECP” approval and CE, RoHS, CB and ISO 9001 credentials. Request the issuer, model-specific documents, applicable standards and test scope. The ECP wording has not been independently verified as European Central Bank approval.
ISO 9001 concerns a quality-management system; CE and RoHS concern applicable conformity requirements, not counterfeit-detection performance.
The supplier describes American production with Chinese assembly; confirm the manufacturer and origin documentation in the purchase specification.
Ten activated currencies, with wider factory definitions
BVS lists the Egyptian pound, US dollar, euro, British pound, Saudi riyal, Kuwaiti dinar, UAE dirham, Syrian pound, Libyan dinar and Sudanese pound as the 10 activated currencies. Factory definitions are available for up to 60 currencies worldwide; that does not mean 60 are enabled on every delivered unit.
BVS also describes processing up to three supported currencies in one session, with separate currency totals, plus separation of supported US-dollar issues, including 1996 and 2013 designs. Confirm these functions, polymer-note support and USB update availability on the supplied software.
Reports, foreign-note serial numbers and the optional printer
Reports cover totals, denomination breakdowns and rejection reasons. Foreign-banknote serial-number capture supports traceability where the currency and issue are supported. BVS describes computer connectivity and comparison against user-supplied serial lists; a match alone does not establish a note’s legal status.
A compatible external thermal printer can produce transaction reports, including supported serial-number data. The printer is sold separately and is outside the machine price. Confirm included cables, software and report formats before ordering.
A practical workflow for education finance teams
- Identify the cashier, session and receipt batch before counting; keep each currency’s accounting total separate.
- Count the batch, review rejected notes and reconcile the result against receipts rather than accepting the display alone.
- Save or print the denomination report, record exceptions and have a second person verify the handover.
For example, 50 notes each of EGP 200, EGP 100 and EGP 50 total EGP 17,500 across 150 notes. Match both the value and denomination counts to the collection record; an unexplained difference needs investigation before handover.
This workflow supports cash control; it does not imply automatic integration with student accounts or an ERP. Ask for a demonstration using actual receipt and reconciliation requirements.
BVS’s listed package includes a customer display, manual, cleaning brush, calibration card, protective cover, power cable, sensor-cleaning cloth and spare fuse. Confirm the supplied contents separately from optional accessories.
TBS 1001 price and purchase questions
As checked on 28 October 2026, BVS’s product page lists EGP 69,999. Confirm VAT, availability, printer cost, delivery, training, warranty and any required power protection in the final quotation.
Why choose a two-pocket banknote sorter?
A separate reject pocket lets operators collect suspect or unreadable notes apart from accepted notes. It helps exception handling, but full pockets, jams or alerts can still require intervention.
What should buyers test before acceptance?
Test genuine mixed denominations, older circulating notes, supported currencies, rejection handling, serial capture and report output. Confirm cleaning instructions and the maintenance schedule.
How should a school compare ownership costs?
Compare the complete quotation, including the optional printer, consumables, currency updates, maintenance and staff training. During a demonstration, time the full process from loading to a reconciled report, not only the motor’s counting cycle. Ask who provides local repairs, how support requests are handled and whether a temporary replacement is available. Confirm these services in writing.
