AWKO Law LLP is investigating a data breach that led to unauthorized access to the sensitive information of 232,401 individuals affiliated with World Acceptance Corporation, a South Carolina-based consumer finance company focused on small-balance installment loans.

On August 24, 2026, an unauthorized third party accessed World Acceptance Corporation’s network. Although the breach occurred in August 2026, World Acceptance Corporation did not begin notifying affected individuals until on or around September 30, 2026, which may have violated state and federal laws. The following information may have been compromised in the breach: names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
