Announced at IMPACT® 2026, the enhanced integration is designed to deliver data earlier and accelerate reconciliation
As IMPACT® 2026 comes to a close in Boston, Orion today announced an enhancement to its Schwab Advisor Center® integration. The new data-sharing method is designed to deliver custodial data to Orion faster and accelerate reconciliation, helping advisors begin client work earlier with up-to-date, reconciled information.
Schwab provides Orion with daily close-of-business information, including positions, transactions, pricing, cost basis, and account details. Moving from SFTP files to cloud-based delivery modernizes how Orion receives and processes that information. Advisors won’t see a new button or screen. They’ll see their data ready sooner.
“Some of the most meaningful improvements we make are ones advisors never have to click on,” said Reed Colley, President of Orion Advisor Technology. “Reconciled data is the starting line for everything an advisor does in a day, from reviewing accounts to placing trades to meeting with clients. By modernizing how we receive and process data from Schwab, we’re moving that starting line earlier, so advisors and their operations teams can get to work on accurate, reconciled data sooner.”
Key benefits of the new data-sharing method include:
- Earlier data delivery and faster processing. Schwab data reaches Orion earlier each day, and Orion processes it faster once it arrives.
- More reliable data transfer. The new method is designed to deliver data more consistently than file-based transfer, reducing the delays that can hold up a firm’s morning.
- Earlier reconciliation completion. Together, these improvements move reconciliation completion earlier in the day, giving advisors and operations teams more of the morning for clients. Enhancements to how Orion processes Schwab data improve the accuracy of the positions, transactions, and balances advisors rely on.
“Advisors depend on timely, accurate custodial data to keep every system in their office in sync. Working with Orion to move beyond daily file delivery means the advisors we serve together get that data sooner and can begin each day with the information they need,” said Alison Dooher, Managing Director, Head of AI, Schwab Advisor Services.™
The new data-sharing method is in initial phases with the full implementation expected by year end. The update builds on Orion’s ongoing collaboration with Schwab Advisor Services™, including fractional share trading and automated beneficiary updates. It also lays the groundwork for future enhancements that could support data exchange at greater scale and closer to real time, helping advisors access current information as their firms grow.
