Unisys Introduces New Messaging and Collaboration Solutions

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that it has extended its Microsoft services portfolio to include tailored offerings aligned with Microsoft Online Services, including Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Office Live Meeting, and Microsoft Office Communications Online. Unisys Email Management solution, part of its portfolio of IT Outsourcing (ITO) offerings, provides customers with the ability to make faster and more accurate decisions, to have immediate access to information, and to be interconnected despite geographic locations and mobile environments.

By adding Microsoft Online Services offerings to its extensive services portfolio, Unisys helps end-users remain current with the latest Exchange versions and updates, while effectively and efficiently monitoring and managing their IT budgets. Unisys also announced its support for the new Microsoft Online Services partner program.

Through offering Microsoft Online Services, Unisys will be able to provide customers with consolidated services that are targeted toward their specific business needs, said Allison L. Watson, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft. Working with Unisys to deliver Microsoft Online Services will allow us to provide customers with an innovative solution, regardless of the size of their business or the limitations of their current on-premise IT operations.

The Unisys strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp. and its Microsoft Online Services offering presents a significant growth opportunity for not only Unisys Email Management solution, but for the overall growth and success of its ITO customers. The per-user, per-month pricing signals a long-awaited move toward right-sizing service cost with business demand, a value proposition that is becoming an inherent component to the design, costing and pricing of many Unisys ITO offerings.

Unisys extends its leadership position in global IT services management by teaming with Microsoft to deliver a new class of hosted and enterprise-ready messaging and collaboration services. These Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, called Microsoft Online Services, give CIOs a tool to free in-house IT talent to focus on revenue-producing projects, not just infrastructure repair and maintenance, said Jeff Parker, president, Directions on Microsoft. It also gives large companies a way to rationalize their messaging and collaboration costs while simultaneously deploying the latest Microsoft technologies. By working with Unisys, Microsoft Online Services extends its credibility as an IT managed services leader known for delivering bulletproof IT systems and solutions for the worlds biggest and most demanding enterprise organizations.

As one of the six lead partners in the program, Unisys currently provides email management services to more than two million Exchange mailboxes worldwide, including some of the largest hosted enterprise messaging environments in the world. Engagement within the Microsoft Online Services initiative extends Unisys opportunity to offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional hosting solutions by helping to drive additional revenue and add complementary services such as migrations, active directory consulting and service desk support. Email continues to be a critical communications tool, and Unisys is working with Microsoft to enable enterprises to build a more productive and cost effective messaging infrastructure. The solution includes the following benefits and offerings:

-- Simplified and standard email services
-- Service price aligned with service consumption
-- Single point of accountability for email service components
-- Ability to transition mixed environments with federated directory services over time
-- Full lifecycle managed service backed by comprehensive service-level agreements (SLAs)

-- Geographic and real estate neutral support, with delivery options on client premise, Unisys data center, or Microsoft data center

-- Roadmap services for:
-- unified messaging (voice mail, email, and fax in one mailbox)
-- instantiation of presence, unified communications and collaboration services into Exchange infrastructure
-- SaaS-based email services

This joint collaboration is one of the commitments that Unisys and Microsoft have made to assist enterprises with implementing their messaging and collaboration strategies. Microsoft continues to work with Unisys because of its expertise in developing innovative IT Outsourcing offerings that extend the value of the Microsoft platform, said Bart De Maertelaere, vice president and partner, Unisys Global IT Outsourcing Services Strategy & Portfolio Management.
