The Millennial Recruiters Want to Know Candidate's Life's Purpose to Tackle the Great Resignation.

New York-based startup Fundraise Up added a life purpose assessment into their recruitment process.

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / October 26, 2021 / In October 2021 New York-based startup Fundraise Up implemented an unexpected practice in its recruitment process: they assess candidates' life purpose to see if they are a fit for the job. Amid great resignation, this employer believes that purpose-driven work might be the answer to retaining employees. Candidates were asked to answer a short personality assessment test that allows the recruiter to characterize the candidate as one of 9 purpose archetypes: entrepreneur, researcher, teacher, artist, warrior, activist, visionary, nurturer, entertainer.

Recruiters found this tool to be essential when it comes to hiring decisions. "Understanding a candidate's life purpose is truly important because when people are excited and passionate about the work they spend time on during their day they actually get more productive," says Laurence Casimir, the head of people at Fundraise Up.

Life purpose assessment was developed by celebrity author Sahara Rose, a founder of Dharma Coaching Institute. The concept of living your purpose-known in Sanskrit as your dharma has roots in multiple religions, including Hinduism and Buddhism. Rose created her method based on many years of personal studies in India and was praised by Deepak Chopra for her ability to bring knowledge from ancient cultures into the reality of the 21st century. In his foreword to Rose's latest book, Chopra deemed her as "a leading voice for the millennial generation into the new paradigm shift".

Rose says that, unlike zodiac signs, your purpose archetype isn't fixed and can change through life, so it's important to understand the current purpose at the moment of finding your next job.

"Imagine your purpose as your mission statement and your career as an offering you provide. For example, your dharma (purpose) may be to serve and protect victims of social injustice. That may manifest as a lawyer, activist, documentary maker, nonprofit founder, or a host of different careers."
