The newly-built Hangzhou-Shaoxing Intercity Railway is expected to begin operations in late June.
The railway connects two metro lines in Hangzhou and Shaoxing, as well as spans a total length of 20.3 kilometers. It starts at Guniangqiao Station in Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou and ends at China Textile City Station in Keqiao district, Shaoxing.
The operation of the intercity railway will shorten the commuting time between Hangzhou and Shaoxing to only 25 minutes.
Hangzhou Metro has signed an agreement with Shaoxing Metro on the ticket price and transfer procedures, enabling passengers to feel as if they are transferring metro lines within a city.
The building of the intercity railway is part of the efforts to boost the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, as well as to promote the development of Hangzhou and Shaoxing as a whole.
Over the past few years, the two cities have made strong efforts to co-develop their airport economy, transportation, public services, and ecological preservation.
The Yangxunqiao campus of Hangzhou-based Zhejiang Shuren University has been put into use. The campus is located in Yangxunqiao town, Keqiao district, Shaoxing.
The Second Affiliated Hospital to Zhejiang University School of Medicine has also signed an agreement to set up a branch in Keqiao.
Hangzhou residents will not need to go through registration procedures to apply for medical insurance settlement in Shaoxing, while Shaoxing residents are entitled to direct clearing of medical insurance at 383 medical institutes in Hangzhou.
