Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a Syracuse Nursing and Rehab facility opens its doors to educate area seniors about stroke awareness

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - May 9, 2018 - PRLog -- Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center formerly James Square Health and Rehab is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting area seniors for a free symposium to educate them on early warning signs and symptoms of strokes.

"With May being National Stroke Awareness month, we want to do our part to assist the nation's most vulnerable, in ensuring they receive the proper guidance in the prevention of strokes," stated Margaret Mary Wagner the facilities Administrator.

The Center for Disease control reports that Strokes kills about 140,000 Americans each year—that's 1 out of every 20 deaths. Additionally, someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds and every 4 minutes, someone dies of stroke. The Center advises that knowing the early warning signs of a stroke greatly improve one's risks and greatly increases ones' chances for recovery.

The facility invites community seniors to a lecture and to participate in a question and answer session on May 23, 2018 at 2:00pm. Refreshments and educational materials will be provided by the facility free of charge for attendees.
