Donaldson Facility Recognized as Wisconsin Green Tier Program Participant

Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI), a leading worldwide designer and manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, is pleased to announce that the Company’s Stevens Point, Wisconsin facility will raise the Green Tier flag today in recognition of participation in the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Green Tier Program.

Under Green Tier, qualified businesses and associations make binding commitments to superior environmental performance. In exchange, these businesses are given incentives proportional to their environmental commitments, such as reduced reporting requirements. This allows the DNR to focus its resources on those facilities that need greater attention and assistance in meeting environmental requirements. DNR officials were present at the Stevens Point facility today to celebrate this recognition with Donaldson’s employees.

“Donaldson’s commitment to protect the environment is an important factor in everything we do,” said Ed Spencer, plant manager at Donaldson Company’s Stevens Point location. “The Stevens Point Plant is honored to accept this recognition from the State of Wisconsin. We will continue our focus and commitment to improve plant operations and develop better processes as we manufacture filtration systems for our Customers around the world.”

The Stevens Point facility employs approximately 500 people. Since 2009, the facility has implemented projects focused on energy reduction, emissions reduction and land use programs:

  • Installed motion sensors in offices that do not have 24-hour occupancy;
  • Installed 30 high bay motion sensors in the ship dock, receiving dock, rack storage aisles and metal storage;
  • Re-lamped the entire production area to T5 fluorescent from high pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures;
  • Implemented recycling programs that employed dramatic year-over-year improvements in cardboard (121.5 tons in 2009 to 191.8 tons in 2010), plastic film (18.5 tons in 2009 to 26.4 tons in 2010) and cores (7.0 tons in 2009 to 11.4 tons in 2010);
  • Obtained “No Exposure” certification from Wisconsin’s DNR—the Stevens Point facility has no exposure of materials or operations that could contaminate storm water
  • Reduced VOC emissions from cellulose filter media from .00986 lbs./hr. of operation a year in 2006 to .00262 lbs./hr. of operation in 2010.

“Donaldson Company continues to show its commitment alongside other Green Tier companies by instituting best practices within their operations that will protect the shared natural resources in our state,” said Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Cathy Stepp. "It is our honor to celebrate with the Stevens Point facility as they mark their participation in the Green Tier program. We applaud their efforts to be good corporate citizens and look forward to maintaining a long lasting relationship with the company as part of Wisconsin’s Green Tier program."

Donaldson Company’s Stevens Point Plant held a reception today at the facility located at 5200 Coye Drive, Stevens Point, WI 54481.
