K12 Online Public Schools Now Enrolling Students for 2010-2011 School Year

K12 Inc., the largest provider of proprietary curriculum and online school programs for students in kindergarten through high school, announced today that it has launched enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.

In the coming months, K12 will host thousands of free events in local communities across the country, including in-person information sessions, online presentations, and education events for parents and children. These events will provide families an opportunity to experience the K12® curriculum, speak with teachers and school staff, and learn more about how K12 online public schools are succeeding for so many children.

Families can find schools in their state that offer the K12 program along with information on how to enroll by visiting www.K12.com.

The K12 online school program combines a high quality curriculum – online lessons and hands-on education materials – with certified teachers, advisors, and state-of-the-art technology that connect students to a vibrant world-wide school community. The program is customized for every child. This gives K12 students the opportunity to receive an individualized education in their home, on the road, or wherever an Internet connection can be found, regardless of their geographic location or education needs.

In K12 online schools, students access their daily lessons through the K12 Online School (OLS), which hosts more than 21,000 lessons, and communicate with their teachers and schoolmates through interactive technology.

Working in partnership with parents, K12 online school teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, and communicate with students and parents via phone, email, web-based “e-classrooms,” and face-to-face meetings. Teachers also organize a variety of field trips and school activities.

K12 provides courses in English/Language Arts, Math, Science, History, Music, and Art for students in grades K-8. The K12 High School program offers students a catalog of more than 130 core, elective, and AP® courses. K12’s powerspeaK12 world language program offers 31 courses for students in grades 3-12 across the most popular languages: Spanish, French, German, Latin, and Chinese.

Families are extremely satisfied with the K12 program. More than 95 percent of parents agree or strongly agree that their children have benefited academically from the K12 curriculum. Additionally, K12 online public schools have received numerous awards and honors for academic achievement and innovation, and regularly outperform other virtual schools on state test results.

Online learning was one of the fastest growing segments in education over the past decade and is projected to continue to grow rapidly. K12has been at the forefront of that growth. Since the company was founded in 2000, it has become the largest K-12 online school and proprietary curriculum provider in the industry, offering popular education programs for children of all ages and abilities, designing customized online learning solutions for school districts, and operating high quality virtual schools. K12 has served over 150,000 full-time students to date and delivered over 1.5 million online courses.

Today, about 70,000 students are enrolled full-time in K12 online schools. Students who graduated from K12 online schools have been accepted to over 150 post-secondary schools, including many top-ranked universities and colleges.
