Firm accelerates advisory expansion with seasoned M&A veteran as deal activity rebounds across the middle market

Wolf & Company, P.C., a nationally recognized advisory and accounting firm, today announced its Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice and the appointment of Phillip Whitaker as Principal and Lead. The practice is purpose-built to serve middle-market companies, private equity sponsors, and investors navigating mergers, acquisitions, and capital transactions, following the repeated interest for such services from legacy Wolf & Company clients.

Whitaker joins Wolf & Company after a thirteen-year tenure in RSM’s Transaction Advisory practice, where he provided financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, and M&A support across a range of middle-market transactions.

“By serving as a long-term advisor for middle-market clients, rather than a transaction-only service provider, Wolf & Company is solving a major gap in the transaction advisory landscape,” said CEO and Principal Jerry Gagne. “We’re thrilled to have Phillip join us as he helps us stage the kind of practice our clients need: one that is flexible and cost-effective, with the broad advisory and integrated capabilities that our firm is known for.”

This announcement comes as Wolf & Company continues to rapidly expand its advisory capabilities. The firm acquired bank consulting firm The Kafafian Group earlier this year and announced Nelson Obando as lead of its Artificial Intelligence practice in May. With the addition of Whitaker, the firm is positioned to provide integrated, transaction-focused support for middle-market companies and investors.

“The best diligence tells a story about the business and what it’s worth,” Whitaker said. “Middle-market deal teams need an advisor who combines transaction-specific experience with real depth across the advisory spectrum, and Wolf & Company brings that full picture to every client. We look forward to serving sponsors and management teams alike, across both our TAS practice and our integrated suite of offerings.”
