Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers.

Thomas E. Stanberry, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of West Bancorporation, Inc. (the "Company") announced today that Joyce A. Chapman, Vice President of the Company and Executive Vice President of Administration for the Company’s bank subsidiary, West Bank, will retire from those duties effective April 1, 2006. At that time she will no longer have responsibilities as an executive officer of the Company. She began her career with West Bank in August of 1971.

Ms. Chapman will remain with West Bank on a part time basis as Executive Vice President – Community Relations. She will remain a member of the board of directors of West Bank and continue in her capacity as Executive Director and a board member of The West Bancorporation Foundation, Inc.
