Buggyra claims sixth place and valuable experience at Italian Baja

Buggyra ZM Racing has completed another round of the FIA World Cup and European Cup in cross-country baja rally, with a sixth-place finish in the T1+ category at the Italian Baja, one of Europe's most prestigious events of its kind.

-- Adam Lacko and co-driver Mirko Brun delivered the result in their Red-Lined Revo V8, while Aliyyah Koloc and Marcin Pasek decided to withdraw from the event on safety grounds.

This year's Italian Baja drew a record entry list, with crews competing for points in both the World Cup and European Cup standings. Over three days, competitors covered more than 430 kilometers of timed special stages through demanding terrain that tested both driver skill and mechanical reliability.

For Adam Lacko, it was only his second career start in cross-country competition. Following his debut in Spain in May, he once again showed rapid adaptation to a discipline far removed from his truck-circuit racing background, significantly aided by local co-driver Mirko Brun's knowledge of the terrain.

The event was not without challenges for them, though. Gear-shifting issues emerged from the opening kilometers on the final day, persisting until a repair during the neutralization section. Even so, the setback didn't cost them the result. "We were dealing with a gear-shifting problem from the very first kilometers, so I had to focus mainly on getting the car safely to the finish. After the repair, everything worked again, and we were able to pick up the pace. Sixth place is an excellent result, especially considering the level of competition we faced here," said Lacko.

The European truck racing champion also noted that his second event alongside Mirko Brun marked another significant step forward. "During our first event together, I was still getting used to the pace notes. This time, I understood Mirko's instructions much better, and it showed in our pace. A big thank you also to the entire team for the tremendous job they did, both during the race and in preparing the car."

Brun echoed that assessment. "The Italian Baja is always exceptionally demanding with lots of rocks, dense vegetation, and rough terrain. Despite the gearbox issue, we managed everything, and I'm glad we reached the finish. For only his second cross-country start, Adam drove very cleanly, without major mistakes, which is crucial on stages like these."

In the other Buggyra ZM Racing car, Aliyyah Koloc's rally ended early. With concerns over components that did not meet the required safety standards, the team decided to withdraw rather than risk failure during stages running through dense forest. Team Performance engineer David Vršecký acknowledged the difficulty of the call: "We're all disappointed because Aliyyah was ready to push on, but in any event, safety simply has to come first."

Buggyra heads to the next event, the Baja Aragón in Spain, with clear targets for both crews. For Lacko, the goal is to continue building on an encouraging learning curve that has already yielded back-to-back strong results. For Koloc, Aragón represents another opportunity to finally reach the finish line after two DNFs this season.
