NEW YORK - June 8, 2026 - IYSH: A Story of Courage, a new historical novel by Greg Price, has debuted. The expansive 692-page saga spans Nazi Germany, war-torn Europe, and the early days of the State of Israel. IYSH tells the love story of Leo Butlion, a German Jew, and Ivy Jacobson, a Belgian Christian. IYSH takes the reader through Leo and Ivy’s powerful journey of courage and endurance, culminating in the 1973 Yom Kippur War in Israel.
IYSH, which literally means “man who will champion the cause” in Hebrew, is translated in the book with its contextual meaning: “champion the cause in life.” For author Greg Price, Leo and Ivy are both champions of their lives and history itself. The story begins in 1940, when Leo is studying to be a medical doctor in Koblenz, Germany. Historical events disrupt his plan, and he leaves Germany.
Ivy, a deformed yet highly talented fashion designer, works in a textile factory in Liege, Belgium. The outbreak of the Second World War leads to Ivy meeting Leo. The war then causes them to be separated, but they eventually reunite. Leo becomes a doctor, and their careers take them to South Africa and, eventually, to Israel.

While leaning on their respective faiths, they forge a love that overarches obstacles that for some are insurmountable.
