Project ECHO Hosts The 17th Annual High School Entrepreneurs’ Business Plan Competition

Los Angeles-based entrepreneurial non-profit, Project ECHO, set to host their annual business plan competition, an event to help teens across Southern California build their entrepreneurial and leadership skills

Project ECHO (Entrepreneurial Concepts Hands-On) is staying true to their goal of developing the next generation of successful entrepreneurs and change-makers as the organization is set to host their annual business plan competition. The 2021 edition of the annual competition is scheduled for Sunday, May 16, 2021, bringing together over 200 teens from Southern California to compete in a Shark-Tank Style event.

Project ECHO provides teens a solid foundation to explore college majors and future careers while in high school. It's amazing to watch a team's full business pitch and see all of the curriculum elements come to life for each of these students. For many of our teens, this is the first time they understand how their academic strengths and personal interests will transition into a future career." - Diane Quast, Executive Director.

Entrepreneurs remain important to the development of any community, as small businesses remain the biggest employers of labour and major contributors to the economy. The team at Project ECHO champions the development of entrepreneurs, nurturing them early from their high school days, a claim substantiated with the annual business plan competition.

The goal is to simulate the real-world process of entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from investors, featuring hundreds of students in different teams presenting their start-ups to a panel of judges.

The 2021 High School Entrepreneurs’ Business Plan Competition, which is the 17th annual event, will be a virtual event held on Zoom and streamed live on ECHO’s Facebook.
