East metro could get $700 million to clean chemicals from water, using 3M settlement money

State officials have announced a $700 million plan to clean up water sources in the Twin Cities eastern suburbs, which for years have been polluted by chemicals made by 3M Co. The money will come from a 2018 settlement between Maplewood-based 3M and the state of Minnesota.
