CLERMONT, Fla. - September 7, 2020 - (Newswire.com)

35 years after Matt Gosselin heard teacher and author, Jim DeFilippi, tell a story in his Vermont classroom, the two of them decided to publish it. STUCK's publishing was accelerated to bring calm to teachers and students alike and to bring forward a message that tells kids that it is ok to be scared.

“Jim has always been quite entertaining in his storytelling,” Gosselin said. “But outside of his unique delivery, there was always an ‘a-ha’ moment that helped you understand an important lesson or perspective you might not have considered. Years later as my high school English teacher, he further inspired me to write.”

STUCK is a humorous and thoughtful story about Robert, a young boy whose foot becomes wedged in the sidewalk while walking home from school. It seems the whole town is trying to help and they all tell him the same thing: “Don’t get scared!”  Expressive characters like Robert’s sister, the Big Kid, or Mac, tell him that they are bigger and smarter than him. But will they be able to get his foot unstuck?

"Matt has taken my simple, goofy story for kids and turned it into a lesson for all of us, especially in this scary time called 2020,” DeFilippi said. “I can only humbly thank him.”

The colorful printed book of 50 illustrations is available at all major online retailers. To make it more accessible, Gosselin and DeFilippi created a video book that is available for free to all students, teachers, and parents.

“At the heart of this effort is the idea that we do get scared sometimes. And that is ok. Because after we address fear, what comes next is something inspirational. Courage,” Gosselin said.
