Since opening our doors in 2013, we’ve been honored to receive numerous awards and distinctions for our dedication to preparing K-8 scholars with academic tools, critical thinking skills, and leadership traits putting them on the path to and through college.

Last year, Vista College Prep-Hadley was recognized by the US Department of Education as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. Just last month, our network of schools was ranked #22 out of more than 100 elementary schools by the Phoenix Business Journal.

The ranking, based on key statistics collected from the U.S. Department of Education and analyzed by the review site Niche, was derived from five core areas including:

Accounting for half of the overall grade, the academic score of each institution was determined by student proficiency in state assessments. At VCP, we are dedicated to providing scholars with exceptional education from day one. Our rigorous preparatory model is designed to address academic gaps from the start through effective teaching and individualized instruction, which is why our students scored in the top 6% in literacy and top 11% in math for the entire state in 2017.

While teachers might only comprise 20% of the overall grade, we believe that experienced, empathetic, passionate educators are the number one determiner of academic achievement. Along with guiding scholars through a diverse range of core content areas, VCP teachers are enthusiastic about character and leadership education for tomorrow’s role models. Social emotional learning is critical to our curriculum.

For many parents and guardians, finding a quality school district can be a challenge, but this is an especially prominent concern for those in underserved areas. Making up 15% of the total grade, the report’s “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data” is supported by the fact that VCP students are consistently among the highest achieving elementary school students in all of Arizona.

Results from racial and economic diversity surveys account for 10% of the total grade.  At Vista College Prep, we believe that demographics do not determine destiny. Our student body population is proving that ALL children can succeed, regardless of their background.

Rounding out the last 5% of the overall grade, parent and student feedback has been a crucial element to the outstanding performance of VCP staff. Since our opening year, at every parent teacher conference round, we’ve had nearly 100% of parents attend conferences.  We average about 93% of our parents re-enrolling their children each year.
