Ikenna Idam, an LWD InTouch Engineer at Schlumberger Oilfield Services, is marking his 20th year with the world’s largest oilfield services company in 2020. Mr. Idam joined Schlumberger in Nigeria in 2000. As his career advanced over the next two decades, his expertise in Logging While Drilling (LWD) technologies earned Mr. Idam a promotion to a supervisory position in Brazil, where he served the company for six years as an LWD Production Manager and Product Champion. In 2017, Mr. Idam was recognized as an LWD Subject Matter Expert and relocated to the Schlumberger Technology Center in Sugar Land, Texas (USA), where in August 2017 he earned the distinction of LWD InTouch Engineer.
Mr. Idam specializes in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of high-technology LWD tools and techniques, with exceptional expertise in the management of related resistivity and nuclear equipment. In his role as LWD InTouch Engineer, he puts that subject matter expertise to the test, managing critical technology-based interactions with Schlumberger’s global field locations and providing 24/7 real-time technical support to the company’s oil and gas exploration and production teams across 120 countries, as they confront a broad variety of often immediate, challenging, and potentially hazardous hurdles while utilizing the most cutting-edge and complex tools in use by the industry today.
Mr. Idam also applies his operational experience to guide the safe and efficient development and use of those complex, cutting-edge tools, ensuring the smooth transition of those tools to Drilling and Measurement (D&M) teams worldwide as the technology is introduced to the field. Additionally, his professional expertise and technical aptitude have been and continue to be highly valued in Field Audits, where Mr. Idam mentors the company’s various D&M teams while judging their processes to ensure compliance and efficiency. Most recently, Mr. Idam was acknowledged for his important contributions to an Audit team in Perth, Australia, in February 2020.
