Grant Gustin And Bear Walker Limited Edition Skateboard Sold Out In Two Hours

Bear Walker, acclaimed skateboard artist and designer, is proud to announce that the recently released Limited Edition 2088 Gustin Cruiser sold out in only two hours. The design and creation of this skateboard is the result of a collaboration between Walker and Gustin, who currently plays the role of Barry Allen on the series The Flash which airs on the CW network. He is also known for playing the role of Sebastian on the hit TV series Glee. Gustin said he's been a big fan of Bear Walker's premium handcrafted boards since the start of the company and was excited to form a partnership with Bear Walker Industries to help design a series of Limited-Edition skateboards.

As the first Limited Edition board to be released, the 2088 Gustin Cruiser features a built-in handle, carved out grip, and is outfitted with headlights and taillights. Production of this Limited Edition was strictly limited to 250 boards. Orders for the board were received from customers all around the world and in just two hours the boards were sold out. On Instagram, one avid customer who was fortunate enough to be able to place an order wrote, "Literally had an alarm set for this... purchased and now anxiously awaiting its arrival to my house."

Each board is handcrafted and the bottom is personally signed by Bear Walker. A select few of the 250 are also autographed by Grant Gustin, the TV superhero. Gustin expressed his excitement about partnering up with Bear Walker Industries stating, "I'll be having a hand in future designs and I'm sure many other things. I'm pumped to be a part of it."

Bear Walker, a self-described designer, maker, and seeker of adventure shares that he's always had a love of art and technology. He also developed woodworking skills by working in the family business. While attending Clemson University he honed his skills in graphic design and product development. A senior year project assigned to him included the task of designing a skateboard with innovative printing techniques. Walker said, "I ended up designing around 40, and I was hooked." Since then he has combined his passion, creativity, and skills to create what he calls, "the highest quality skateboards on the planet."

Unlike many other skateboards, Bear Walker boards never use grip tape. Instead, the wood is designed and carved to create traction that Walker says is better than standard grip tape. Additionally, the carving creates a unique artistic element displayed on the top of the board when others generally display artwork on the bottom of their board. Walker states that a lot of people think the boards he creates are intended to be displayed on the wall. While he has referred to his boards as "functional pieces of art," he assures that they are built to ride, saying, "I don't make anything that won't be rideable." The use of high-quality shock pads, bushings, bearings, and wheels ensures that the ride is smooth.

Walker currently offers three lines of skateboards: stock, limited edition, and custom. He says it takes hours to create a design and convert it to a pattern that is compatible with his CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine which is used for carving, machining, or milling the wood. After the CNC machine, each board requires the use of regular handheld tools for sanding, routing, and touching up the machine work which can take a couple of hours. Limited edition and custom boards may include intricate hand carving and commonly take hours longer. With airbrushing the paint job and applying a protective clear coat, the creation of the board is complete.

The design, creation, and release of the Limited Edition 2088 Gustin Cruiser is just the beginning of this collaboration. Bear Walker and Grant Gustin will be releasing a new Limited Edition designed skateboard every month with only 250 skateboards are available to purchase. Walker indicates that he is looking forward to Gustin's contribution to the designs of future Limited Editions.

Like his collaboration with Grant Gustin, Bear Walker has partnered with others to create Limited Edition skateboards including the J2 Beacon/Lost in Space, The Dire, Blood & Oil, and The Dire v2.

In addition to their skateboards, Bear Walker Industries offers accessories for skateboards including wheels, lights, and tools. Stickers for skateboards and limited-edition t-shirts are also available to order on the company website.
