Thiel College makes elite Forbes 200 list of "Happiest, Most Successful Alumni"

By: PRLog
Forbes magazine again placed Thiel College on its "Grateful Grads 2018 - 200 Colleges With The Happiest, Most Successful Alumni" list.
GREENVILLE, Pa. - Sept. 28, 2018 - PRLog -- Forbes magazine singled out Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, for the second time in three years for the generosity of its graduates.

In the article, titled "Grateful Grads 2018 - 200 Colleges With The Happiest, Most Successful Alumni," Forbes uses several factors to rank the schools, including private donation rates, gifts per student and alumni participation rates. The article includes only private, not-for-profit colleges, and comprises many Ivy League institutions. Inclusion on the list signifies that a college has a history of producing graduates who consistently donate to their alma mater.

According to the article, Thiel College alumni were the most generous on a per graduate basis in northwestern Pennsylvania.

"There are many complicated formulas and ranking systems for determining the best colleges, but when you get down to it, the most tangible way to measure an institution's impact is on the willingness of its graduates to support the institution through charitable giving," Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. "Thiel  (https://www.thiel.edu/) graduates feel a sense of gratitude to the institution and want to make sure that generations of future students get to experience a campus where students belong, connect and become."

Thiel College maintains a network of more than 15,000 active alumni and friends of the College. In February, the College's one-day fundraising drive had a record-setting 342 donors who gave more than $150,000. It was the third straight year the one-day, online-only giving campaign topped 300 donors.

Forbes reports that the 7-year median donation per Thiel College graduate is $4,207.

"This recognition is outstanding, but only serves to confirm what those affiliated with Thiel College already knew—that it is a special place where students are embraced by a supportive community, make important connections, and become valued civic and professional leaders," Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., said. "This year, the College had its inaugural service learning project for first-year students. The food drive for the Good Shepherd food pantry collected 3,000 pounds of food. The legacy of thoughtful giving we are cultivating is not solely for our benefit. The generosity of our graduates is felt across the spectrum of charitable giving. We are grateful to be among the beneficiaries of the giving by our alumni. We appreciate the generosity of every single donor and celebrate this acknowledgment."
