Pipeline giant Energy Transfer to simplify structure through merger

Dallas-based pipeline company Energy Transfer Partners will merge with Energy Transfer Equity, the owner of its general partner, in a long-expected move that will simplify its structure and put it on the hunt for more acquisitions.
