Bonsai Finance Opens Up Scholarship for Veterans, Active Military, or Dependents

Veteran owned finance company looks to make the cost of a school less of a burden with a scholarship aimed at military members past and present, as well as their direct dependents

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - July 1, 2018 /MarketersMedia/

According to research done by the College Board, the average cost of tuition for state residents at a public university is a little under $10,000 a year. An out of state student at the same school can expect to pay just over $25,000 a year. This doesn't include the cost of books, class fees, school supplies or even a parking pass. The ever-increasing cost of a college education makes it more difficult for some to get started. Bonsai Finance is looking to change that for one individual this year.

Bonsai Finance, a veteran-owned finance business aimed at providing resources to build financial credit, is launching a scholarship for veterans, active military or direct dependents including a son, daughter or spouse. "The Bonsai Finance Veteran’s Scholarship celebrates veteran and dependent students who strive for excellence in their lives. The scholarship provides a one-time payment of $2,500 for current or future education costs," said Britton Smith, the company's founder. This can make a considerable difference for someone on the fence about being able to attend college.

In addition to being a veteran, an active duty member of the military, or direct dependent, applicants must also be U.S. citizens that have not already earned a bachelor's degree from a college or university. Applicants must be a high school senior or graduate, or already be enrolled at an accredited college, technical or vocational. The goal of the scholarship is to not only acknowledge the sacrifice made by military families but also to ensure that more of those individuals have an opportunity to go to college.

"Named after the Bonsai tree that takes patience and care to shape over time, Bonsai Finance provides you the tools to shape your finances, said Smith. It takes time and careful planning to successfully manage money. The Veterans Scholarship is just one way that Bonsai Finance can help with an individual or family's financial future. There are a wide range of resources available through the company's website, including a Learning Center that focuses on common questions that people have about things like credit, debt consolidation, and even credit scores.

To apply for the Bonsai Finance Veteran’s Scholarship, submit a short essay responding to the questions posed. Scholarship decisions are based solely on an applicant’s essay response. Start your application at https://bonsaifinance.com/veterans-scholarship/.
