UPDATE 1-Carnival posts strong fourth-quarter earnings

NEW YORK, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Carnival Corporation & Plc posted strong quarterly earnings on Tuesday, helped by an improving economy and efforts to reduce fuel costs, and the company's shares rose almost 3 percent in premarket trading.
