This Report of Foreign Private Issuer on Form 6-K is deemed filed for all purposes under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, including by reference in the Registration Statement on Form F-3 (Registration No. 33-99550) and the Registration Statement on Form F-3 (Registration No. 333-9180).
On January 11, 2009, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) established Qatrana Electric Power Company PSC (QEPC) in Jordan as a joint venture with Xenel, a Saudi Arabian company. KEPCO owns 65% of QEPC and Xenel owns 35%. QEPC will be primarily engaged in the construction and operation of a combined cycle power generation plant in Al Qatrana, Jordan with an estimated installed capacity of 373 megawatts (the Project). QEPC was capitalized with a cash contribution of US$133,720 from KEPCO and US$70,000 from Xenel.
