Minister José Dirceu resigns from the Board of Directors of Petrobras


(Rio de Janeiro, February 7, 2003). – PETROLEO BRASILEIRO S.A – Petrobras, (BOVESPA: PETR3 / PETR4, NYSE: PBR / PBRA, LATIBEX: XPBR / XPBRA), Brazil’s largest oil and gas, petrochemicals and energy company, announces that Board Member José Direceu de Oliveira e Silva in a letter to the President of the Board of Petrobras, Dilma Rousseff,has communicated his resignation from the Board of Directors with effect from February 1, 2003.
